Personal Biography Statement
SU IL KIM, Ph.D. Professor of Anthropology, Pikes Peak Community College, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Affiliate Professor of Anthropology, Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Dr. Kim was born in Tokyo, Japan, of Korean parents, where he received primary and secondary education and attended Meiji University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Japan, where he majored in mechanical engineering. In his junior year, he transferred to Central Connecticut State College, New Britain, Connecticut, from which he received a B.A. in Sociology. Dr. Kim received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America 2011 (65th Edition).
Dr. Kim has taught at Teikyo Loretto Heights University (Dean of Academic Affairs; Professor of Intercultural Studies; Associate Professor of Japan Studies and Director of Japan Studies and Intercultural Studies), Denver, Colorado; the University of Denver; Hartford Graduate Center, Hartford, Connecticut; Eastern Connecticut State University; the University of Connecticut; Central Connecticut State University; and Post College, Waterbury, Connecticut.
Prior to arriving in Denver, Dr. Kim took part in establishing and working as a psychiatric clinician at Adolescent Partial Hospital Program, sponsored by the New Britain General Hospital and New Britain Board of Education, New Britain, Connecticut.
With his wife, Sandy, Dr. Kim owns Kim and Kim Associates, academic and business consulting in translation, cultural interpretation, and Japanese corporate culture and behavior. Clients include Gallo Winery, Denver, Colorado; Prudential International, Boulder, Colorado; Penwest Foods, Englewood, Colorado; Law Office of Kutak Rock and Law Office of David A. Lane, Denver, Colorado; Sony Music Entertainment, Tokyo, Japan; Hartford Graduate Center, Hartford, Connecticut; Communications Satellite Corporation, Washington, DC.
