Personal Biography Statement
My research addresses how certain characteristics of children (like their early personalities) and their environments (like their family and child care experiences) affect how their bodies respond to stress. I'm interested in this in part because different physiological responses to stress may directly protect or put kids at risk for emotional, learning and behavioral problems. Specifically, I am interested in how teachers and parents can help to buffer children from excessive stress. I am currently recruiting undergraduate research assistants who are interested in working with preschoolers and their families. This experience may be particularly valuable for students interested in graduate school in psychology, teaching, or medicine.
