Personal Biography Statement
Dr. Layton Seth Curl, Chair of the Department of Psychology, received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Mississippi. He also holds a Master’s degree in Experimental Psychology, a B.A. with Honors in Psychology, and a Diploma in Asian Studies with Honors from Kansai Gaidai University of Japan.
Research Areas/Interests
During high school and college, Dr. Curl spent years abroad studying psychology and culture. He currently pursues professional development and research activities in social and multicultural psychology, as well as human sexuality. Most recently he completed two educational videos titled “Becoming Me: The Gender Within” and “Rocking the Cradle: Gay Parenting” with his friend and colleague Dr. Mary Ann Watson. Drs. Curl and Watson previously produced a 21-part video series titled Portraits in Sexuality, which is used across the United States and abroad. Among his published works is a lead article for International Education titled, “The Cross-Cultural Generality of Equal Opportunity Climate: A Study of College Students,” which sampled 1334 students in three countries.
Personal
Dr. Curl lives in Denver, close to friends and family. He spends his free time studying, traveling, reading, and skiing. Courses Taught
