Personal Biography Statement

Having been at Metropolitan State for many years, I have seen the college grow and improve. Currently, I chair the History Department.

The portrait above was painted by Walt Young who until late 2009 ran his own college at his barbershop "The Upper Cut" on East Colfax in Denver.

The "courses taught" list below is misleading because sometimes I am briefly the instructor of record on a class. Normally I teach HIS 1110 Colorado, HIS 1220 American History since 1865, and HIS 3010 History of Denver.

I have written books and articles on Colorado and Denver history.
