Personal Biography Statement

Dr. Matthew S. Makley arrived at Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD) in the fall of 2007. Prior to MSCD he taught courses at Arizona State University where he earned a PhD with a specialty in Native American history. He teaches courses in Native American history, the American West and American history.

Dr. Makley’s co-authored book, Cave Rock: Climbers, Courts and a Washoe Indian Sacred Site, was published in 2010. His history of the Washoe Indians will be submitted for publication in spring 2012. When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
