Personal Biography Statement
Peggy O’Neill-Jones is a professor of technical communication and media production and served as department chair for nearly ten years at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. Currently, Peggy is the regional director for the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Western Region program. TPS provides professional development that assists educators in finding, accessing, and integrating the vast reservoir of primary sources from the Library of Congress to deepen understanding and enrich instruction. Through Peggy’s leadership, the TPS-Colorado program grew from statewide outreach to a regional program that serves 14 western states.

Peggy began her career as a newspaper photographer and moved to broadcast, corporate, and educational media. As media transitioned to digital, online, and virtual environments, Peggy led the way with innovative interactive media productions such asWyzt’s Playground, a 4th grade interactive math program,WebDVD Demystified and a web-connected DVD project,Physical Chemistry in Practice, for Purdue University. Most recently, she produced21st Century Learning Matters, a video that describes the strategies and tools needed to create powerful 21st century learning environments.

Her leadership skills and strong background in communication technology led to chairing Metro State’s online task force, which resulted in the development of the college’s online strategic plan. She is the recipient of numerous professional awards and presents internationally. Peggy holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Communication from Loretto Heights College, a master’s degree in Applied Communication from the University of Denver, and is an Instructional Technology doctoral candidate at the University of Wyoming.


Educational Biography
Professor O'Neill-Jones holds a masters degree in Applied Communication from the University of Denver and is a doctoral candidate in Instructional Technology at the University of Wyoming.



Research Areas/Interests
Research interests include emerging communication media and instructional technologies that encourage and enable the development of 21st century learning skills such as critical and creative thinking, problem solving and innovation—essential for 21st century citizens.
