Personal Biography Statement

Dr. Gerakina (Arlene) Sgoutas is an assistant professor in the department of Women's Studies at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in international politics from the Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and a M.A. in european studies from Katholieke Universiteit, Belgium. She received her B.A. in political science from Emory University.

Her teaching loads include Introduction to Women's Studies, Women in the Developing World, and Feminist Theories and Practices II. She is committed to diversity issues in the current U.S. and international women's movement. She has been active in the Denver women's community since 1989 and has taught at Metro State since 2002.
