Getting Started

Step 1 :: Activate your free Second Life account

• Note: You can not change your name later (unless you create another account), so pick a name you can remember and live with. You can have a custom first name, but you select a last name from the available list. You will need an active email account to confirm your Second Life account.

Step 2 :: Install the software at home

• Verify that your computer meets the System Requirements

Step 3 :: Start learning the environment

• Print out the Quickstart Guide (PDF) ( 1,966 KB)
• Review the Linden Labs online orientation documents
• Go through a basic in-world orientation
  • New Media Consortium
• Watch the training videos that interest you
• Review the Online Safety information

Step 4 :: Visit Roadrunner Island
