ARCHIVE: 2006 Stolen Laptop Information March 2, 2006 The Denver Police Department is investigating the theft of a laptop computer containing a database of college information that was stolen from a Metro State employee’s residence on Saturday, February 25, 2006. The database contains approximately 93,000 names, social security numbers, dates of birth, and addresses of students who were registered in a Metro State course anytime between the beginning of the 1996 fall semester and the end of the 2005 summer semester. There is no evidence at this time that the crime was one of identity theft. However, because the potential for identity theft exists, Metro State is encouraging all affected parties to take the proper precautions, including placing fraud alerts on their credit reports.
