Mathematica is a computational software program that has traditionally been used in the study of mathematics, sciences, and engineering, but also is suitable for use in other fields of study such as economics, education, social sciences, finance, statistics and even music. MSU Denver has carried a campus license of Mathematica for several years, but as of this fall students will be able to access this software at no cost through the campus.

It was once primarily used by the Math Department, but has now found uses in a variety of arenas such as business and engineering. SPSS is among the most widely used programs for statistical analysis and is used extensively in the social sciences, business, health, government and more. In response to increasing campus demand, MSU Denver has purchased a campus license of SPSS that expands faculty/staff access to the popular statistical packages: Statistics Base, Advanced Statistics, and Regression. The expansion of this license removes the need for faculty/staff and departments to purchase single-use faculty, teaching, and departmental lab licenses. SPSS is available for users of Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems that use the software direct support of academic coursework, research and teaching. (Non-academic use is prohibited)
