Professional Field Experience I & II
Social Work majors are required to complete a Professional Field Experience two consecutive semesters of their senior year beginning in the Fall. Students begin the search for a Field Placement in the Spring semester proceeding the Fall in which they begin their Field Placement. The Field Placement requires 240 hours per semester and is accompanied by a 4 credit course each semester, Professional Field Experience I in the Fall and Professional Field Experience II in the Spring. In addition, if you have had any previous experiences that may be reflected on a state or national background check, you might not be eligible to work for certain agencies who impose candidate eligibility guidelines. SWK 4790 - 4 Professional Field Experience I (2 + 2) Fall Semester
Previously offered as: SWK 479A–479G
Prerequisites: SWK 3050, SWK 3060, SWK 3410, SWK 3780, SWK 3790 and SWK4780
Corequisite: SWK 4010
Students begin to develop readiness for professional employment while in a supervised placement in a social agency serving diverse populations-at-risk. Students integrate knowledge, skills, values and ethics within social work practice at the micro, mezzo and macro levels. Students work toward remediating conditions of social and economic injustice while in the agency field placement.
SWK 4810 - 4 Professional Field Experience II (2 + 2) Spring Semester
Previously offered as: SWK 481A–481G
Prerequisites: SWK 3050, SWK 3060, SWK 3410, SWK 3780, SWK 3790, SWK 4010, SWK 4790, satisfaction of Level I and Level II General Studies course requirements and senior standing
Corequisite: SWK 4820
Students demonstrate readiness for professional employment while in their supervised placement in a social agency serving diverse populations-at-risk. Students integrate knowledge, skills, values and ethics within social work practice at the micro, mezzo and macro levels. Students have the opportunity to experience beginning social work practice during this second semester of their field placement. Students work toward remediating conditions of social and economic injustice while in the agency field placement. (Senior Experience)

Application for Professional Field Experience I and II are announced via the student listserv in the Spring semester proceeding the Fall semester of which the field year will begin.

INSTRUCTIONS: Below is the Field Application.
1. You will need to do a save as to save a copy. Please fill the form out completely and BE SURE TO SIGN IT!
2. The form and an updated Resume may be emailed or mailed to the BSW Field Director, or dropped off in the Department of Social Work by 5pm on February 15th, 2013.
3. Lastly, make an appointment to meet with the BSW Field Director anytime between February 11th and March 1st, by calling the front desk at 303.556.3474.
