Field Experience is considered the signature pedagogy of social work education; therefore, students will spend a substantial amount of time serving an agency as part of the journey toward an MSW degree.

The information below is subject to change, but will provide a good idea of what to expect.

Regular (2-Year) Program students will spend 16 hours per week in an agency setting during the first year (Field Experience I and II) for a total of 480 over 30 weeks. Field Experience III and IV will require 20 hours a week over both semesters for a total of 30 weeks and 600 hours. Upon completion of an MSW degree students will have completed 1080 hours at the agency placement(s). Students will also be attending field seminar either on campus or online weekly each semester.

Advanced Standing students will spend 20 hours per week at the agency placement over the Fall and Spring semesters for a total of 600 hours. Each semester consists of 15 weeks. Students will also be attending weekly field seminar either on campus or online each semester.
