The PSA in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities, the Political Science Department,
the United Nations Association of Colorado (UNA-CO), Metro State Food Bank and 350.org
would like to invite you to attend United Nations Day in St. Cajetan's on Tuesday, October
27th from 4pm-7pm.
Our Keynote speaker will be Dr Ved P. Nanda, a renowned International Law Scholar,
Professor at the University of Denver and UN Day State Chair.
Other speakers will include:
Political Science Department Chair-Dr. Robert Hazan;
Alia Thobani, an MSCD student who will share her experiences with the UN agency- the
World Food Programme in Kenya; and
Shweta Poudel who will share her experiences with UNICEF in the water/sanitation project in
Nepal.
Topics will include:
Millennium Development Goal #8: Developing a Global Partnership for Development, the
Copenhagen climate change conference in December 2009 (addressing the connection
between sustainable economic development and climate change through our collective
actions) and we will also be holding a food drive throughout the event with Metro State's
Food Bank in honor of UN Millennium Development Goal # 1: Eradicating extreme poverty
and hunger, so please bring sealed food items to donate.
There will be networking opportunities after the event with Denver Consulates who have
been invited.
We will also be serving food starting at 3:30 so please come early and enjoy the music and
some dinner!

Opportunities to discover new and exciting horizons, to make friendships, to think about issues, to take on leadership roles, to take action and perhaps more important, opportunities to make a difference.

Student Activities has Six distinct functions designed to get students connected and involved in campus life:
