Funding
All completed Travel Proposal packets submitted in accordance with the guidelines above will be reviewed by the Student Travel Committee for funding consideration. The funding limits for individuals and groups are:
- $650 per person (for students making scholarly presentations) or $2000 per group (3 or more students traveling).
- All individuals and groups are able to receive funding once per academic year. The academic year begins in July and continues through the following June (e.g., academic year 2011-2012 runs from July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012).
The Student Travel Program will consider funding the following:
-
Transportation to and from the event. Transportation may include airfare and/or ground transportation. Approved airline tickets MUST BE PURCHASED by the Student Travel Program through the State Travel Agency. Students will not be reimbursed for airline tickets purchased directly through any other source.
-
Conference Registration
-
Lodging for travelers
The Student Travel Program does not provide funding for meals or other incidental expenses, nor does it have funding available for International Travel (other than Canada and Mexico). Student proposals for travel to either Canada or Mexico will be considered on a case-by-case. In accordance with the Universities official travel policies, any requests for funding to attend conferences in Canada or Mexico must be pre-approved by the MSU Denver's President.
If funding is approved, what happens next?
Each individual or group awarded funding through the Student Travel Program is required to meet with the Director of the Student Travel Program within ten days of receiving their award letter to finalize travel arrangements and to discuss their obligations and responsibilities as a part of their travel award. Upon return students and the advisor are required to complete an evaluation Form (sent via email for completion within two weeks of return from Conference)
