Food Bank Information for Students

Do I qualify?

If you are a current MSU Denver student, yes! The only requirement to receive food from the MSU Denver Food Bank is a valid MSU Denver student I.D. (must be valid for the academic term during which you are using the Food Bank).

Great, how do I sign-up?

All first-time visitors to the Food Bank are asked to complete a basic Student Food Bank Registration Form (Acrobat Icon 245 KB) . The form is available in the Food Bank or online. The information that you provide on this form will be held confidentially.

How much food is available to me?

The MSU Denver Food Bank works on a points system. Each item is assigned a points value. For example, a can of food that is 15 oz. or less generally has a points value of 1. Larger items that may include more than one serving size, such as a bag of dried pasta or cereal, typically are 2 points. Signs posted in the Food Bank indicate the points values of different items and the Food Bank Coordinator on duty will be happy to help you determine the value. Generally students may have up to 6 points of food per week, with one additional personal care item.

So how do I get started?

Additional Food Resources

Although the MSU Denver Food Bank is eager to help every student, we recognize that we cannot meet an individual or family's complete nutritional needs. If you are in need of food assistance beyond what is available at the MSU Denver Food Bank, we are happy to help you with a referral. Food Bank of the Rockies also maintains a database of Food Pantries and related food assistance programs throughout the state. The staff in the MSU Denver Food Bank can also provide you with a listing of programs.
