About the Program

How Distance Delivery Works

History

Since 1996, the faculty of the Surveying department have worked to develop course materials to be taught/delivered to students residing at remote/distant sites. Twelve surveying courses and the LSI refresher course have been recorded onto DVD.

Distance Delivery Format

The surveying course's (SUR) lectures are available on DVD format. There is also a course packet of lecture notes to accompany the course DVD's and textbooks. Each course requires a writing assignment, homework assignments, and examinations. Courses that include a laboratory must have the laboratory proctored by a licensed surveyor or engineer. All examinations are proctored through a local library convenient to the student. You have 6 months from the date of registration to complete the distance delivery surveying courses.

Survey Course Entry Requirements

You must be working in the Surveying profession to take the Surveying courses. You must complete college trigonometry or pre-calculus with a grade of "C" or higher to begin taking SUR 1510-Surveying I and Calculus I for engineering and science majors (calculus for business majors is not acceptable) to register for Surveying II. All course prerequisites are listed under Courses.
