MAT: Elementary Education

The MAT candidate in elementary education will complete requirements for licensure in the K-6 classroom. Students can complete the content courses and requisite licensure requirements while working towards a graduate degree to fulfill the Elementary Education requirements. MAT students must complete all licensure and all CORE classes to complete the MAT degree and be recommended for licensure.

All prerequisite courses are offered at the undergraduate level. Therefore, it may be advantageous to apply as an undergraduate student during the first semester while completing these courses to take advantage of the undergraduate tuition rates and fees.

Some prerequisite courses may be waived depending on content of undergraduate coursework. Please bring transcripts during the required initial advising session, it will be determined if any previous courses will meet the prerequisite requirements at that time. The initial advising session can be completed by attending a Program Information Meeting or scheduling a meeting with the Graduate Program Specialist.
