TEDM6800: Capstone Lesson Study

The Capstone course for the Master of Arts in Teaching degree allows the teacher candidate to synthesize the skills and knowledge acquired through completion of the core classes and coursework required for licensure, including student teaching.

In preparation for this capstone course, each student will request a university advisor to assist them with their project.

How do I select an advisor?

Students may choose to work with any education or education-related MSU Denver faculty member during their Capstone course. Complete the Capstone Supervisor Request Form (found below) and ask for the faculty member's signature. Submit the request form to West Classroom #136S. The form will then be reviewed and approved by the appropriate Department Chair. Please know that if a faculty member has an overload of courses or student supervision, the request may be denied.

When is the Capstone Request Form due?

The form should be completed with student and faculty signatures and submitted no later than the last week of classes prior to the semester of student teaching. E.g. If you are student teaching during fall 2013, the request form should be submitted by the last week during the spring 2013 semester.

When do I take the Capstone course?

Because this course synthesizes the skills and knowledge of the MAT program, it is required that the Capstone course be taken after completing all licensure core and graduate core coursework. Most students take this course during their final semester while completing their student teaching.
