Change Domain in Outlook 2010 Contacts for Faculty and Staff with Exchange Accounts
Export Contacts
1. To transfer your contacts first open Outlook
2. Go to the File menu and click Options

3. This will open the Outlook Options window
4. Click on Advanced

5. Under the Export section, click Export

6. This will open the Import and Export window
7. Below Choose an action to perform: select Export to File from the list > click Next

8. Below Create a file of type: select Microsoft Excel 97-2003 > click Nex

9. Below Select a folder to export from: select the folder in Outlook that contains your contacts.
- This will most likely be labeled as Contacts
10. Click Next

11. Below Save exported file as: click Browse and select where you want your file to be saved, and the name of the file


12. When finished, click Next
14. The next screen will show you what actions will be performed, click Finish

15. Your contacts will be exported to an Excel file

Change Domain Name
All of your contacts, whose email domain is @mscd.edu, will no longer be valid. Do the following to change their domain to the new @msudenver.edu
1. Open the Excel file you exported onto your computer

2. Do the following:
- Go to the Home tab > Editing group > click the Find & Select button> in the dropdown menu select Replace

- The Find and Replace dialog box will open

- Next to Find what: type mscd.edu
- Next to Replace with: type msudenver.edu

- Click Replace All
Troubleshooting:
If when your click Replace and Excel does not find any matches for mscd.edu, do the following:
1. In the Find and Replace dialog box, click on the Options button
2. Next to Search: select By Columns

3. This should help Excel to find what you are searching for
- A window will open informing you of the number of replacements made, click OK

- Close the Find and Replace window, and Save and close the document.
- All of your contacts’ domain name will have changed from mscd.edu to msudenver.edu and are ready to be imported into your account
Import Contacts
1. Open Outlook again, and make sure you have closed the Excel file
2. Go to the File menu > click on Open

3. Select Import

4. This will open the Import and Export wizard
5. Below Choose an action to perform: select Import from another program or file > click Next

6. Below Select file type to import from: select Microsoft Excel 97-2003 > click Next

7. Below File to import: click on Browse to locate the file where you saved the changes to the contacts

8. Under Options select Replace duplicates with items imported

9. Click Next
10. Below Select destination folder: select the Contacts folder > click Next

11. The next screen will show you what actions will be performed, click Finish

12. Your contacts will be imported back into Outlook with the new domain name

Change Domain Name for Suggested Contacts
You must change the domain name for your Suggested Contacts list in Outlook as well, to do so follow these steps:
1. Go to the File menu in Outlook and click Options

2. This will open the Outlook Options window
3. Click on Advanced

4. Under the Export section, click Export

5. This will open the Import and Export window
6. Below Choose an action to perform: select Export to File from the list > click Next

7. Below Create a file of type: select Microsoft Excel 97-2003 > click Next

8. Below Select a folder to export from: select Suggested Contacts

9. Click Next
10. Below Save exported file as: click Browse and select where you want your file to be saved, and the name of the file


11. When finished, click Next
12. The next screen will show you what actions will be performed, click Finis

13. Your contacts will be exported to an Excel file

14. Follow the same steps for Changing the Domain Name and Importing the Contacts as previously outlined
Final Step
Update your cache to remove old auto-popluated email address
Please click and Download this Script: Outlook 2010 Clear Cache (1 KB). It is very important to remove the old email @mscd.edu address from the auto-populate feature of outlook to available undeliverable error messages. This script will remove all email address from the auto-populate feature, but over time with continued use, the database will re-add all of your fequently used contacts.
