Migration Information for Google Sites
Requirements

To migrate your Google Site from mscd.edu to msudenver.edu you will need the following information:

Full Google Site URL for current site

Your mscd.edu Google App login

New Google Site URL for sites new location

Your msudenver.edu login

If you are unsure of your Google Apps login on either mscd.edu or msudenver.edu please call the MSU Denver Service Center at 303-352-7548 and ask for your password to be reset, your username will always be your MSU Denver email address: username@mscd.edu or username@msudnver.edu.

You will need to download a Java tool named Google-Sites-Liberation that will import/export your Google Site, this tool will work on Windows, Mac or Linux based computers and can be found at: http://code.google.com/p/google-sites-liberation/
Instructions

Download, Install and run the program, a window will pop up

Input your host name, domain and web space, followed by your Google App login; remember your username is your full username including the “@mscd.edu.”

Click Choose a Target directory to save your offline copy of your Google Site; this is where you will import your site to the new Google Apps domain.

Press Export

Visit the URL http://google.com/a/msudenver.edu and create a new Google Site, preferably with the same webspace as the site you are importing.

Change the domain to msudenver.edu

Update the webspace with your new Google Site name.

Input your “@msudenver.edu” Google Apps login username and password, including the “@msudenver.edu”

Click Import to Sites and your new website should be uploaded successfully to your MSUDenver.edu Google Apps account

This tool is merely recommended by MSU Denver IT Staff and is not a fully supported tool by the IT Staff.

Using this Java Application is at your own risk and IT can only provide limited support.

Not all aspects of your website are guaranteed to import to your new Google site.
