Add Sticky Notes and Other Annotations

1.  Click on the Comments tab

2.  Choose one of the options under Annotations


 

Add Sticky Notes

1.  Do one of the following:

  • In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > click on the Add sticky note icon

  • On the Toolbar, click on the Add sticky note icon

2.  Your cursor will change to a text bubble

3.  Click where you want to add the note

4.  An Annotation Icon will appear where you clicked, which is attached to a Pop-up in which you can type your note

5.  Click inside the white box to insert text

 

Open and Close the Pop-Up

1.  To close the Pop-up, click on the square in the upper right corner

2.  To open the Pop-up, double click on the Annotation Icon


3.  You can also view the text in the Pop-up, just by moving the cursor over the Annotation Icon


 

Change Annotation Icon

1.  Open the Pop-up

2.  Click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon in the Pop-up, before the author name

3.  Click on Properties


4.  In the Sticky Note Properties window, do the following:

  • Under the Appearance tab select what icon you want to use for this Annotation Icon, as well as the Color and Opacity
  • Click Ok when you are done

 

Hilight Text

1.  Do one of the following:

  • In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > under the Annotations panel, click on the Highlight icon

  • On the Toolbar, click on the Highlight icon

2.  Click and drag across the text you want to highlight

3.  When you let go, the text will be highlighted

 

Change the Color of the Highlight

1.  Double click the highlighted area

2.  In the Pop-up, click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon, before the author name

3.  Click on Properties


4.  In the Highlight Properties window, do the following:

  • Under the Appearance tab, select the Color and Opacity of the highlight
  • Click Ok

 

Attach a File Annotation

1.  Under the Annotations panel, click on the Attach File icon

2.  Your cursor will change into a push-pin

3.  Click where you want to attach the file annotation

  • In the Add Attachment window that opens, select the file you want to attach
  • Click Select

4.  In the File Attachment Properties window that opens, under the Appearance tab, select the Icon image and Color of the icon for the attachment, as well as the Opacity

5.  When you move your mouse over the Annotation Icon, you will see the name of the attached file

 

6.  Double click the Annotation Icon to open the file

 

Add a Sound Clip Annotation

1.  Under the Annotations panel, click on the Sound Clip icon


2.  Your cursor will change into a speaker


3.  Click where you want to place the sound clip annotation

  • If you have a microphone set up with your computer, you can record the audio in the Sound Recorder that pops up

  • Or you can add an audio clip saved on your computer by clicking Browse

4.  In the Sound Attachment Properties window that opens, under the Appearance tab, select the Icon image and Color of the icon for the sound clip, as well as the Opacity


5.  When you move your mouse over the Annotation Icon, you will see the name of the sound clip

 

6.   Double click the Annotation Icon to play the clip


 

Add a Stamp

Select a Stamp

1.  In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > under the Annotations panel, click on the Stamp icon


2.  Do one of the following:

  • Select a stamp from one of the three categories: Dynamic, Sign Here, or Standard Business

  • Click on Show Stamps Palette to see all the stamp options in a new window

3.  Click on a stamp to select it


 

Add a Stamp to the PDF

1.  Your cursor will turn into the stamp you selected


2.  Click on the PDF to place the stamp


3.  To add a note to the stamp, double click on the stamp and enter the information in the white box in the Pop-up that appears


 

Insert Text

1.  In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > click on the Insert Text icon


2.  Click in the line of text where you want to place the insertion marker


3.  Type the text you want to insert into the white box in the Pop-up


4.  When you move your cursor over the insertion point, you can see the inserted text


 

Change the Color of the Insertion Point

1.  Double click the insertion point

 

2.  In the Pop-up, click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon, before the author name


3.  Click on Properties


4.  In the Insertion Caret Properties  window, do the following:

  • Under the Appearance tab, select the Color and Opacity of the insertion point
  • Click Ok

 

Replace Text

1.  In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > click on the Replace Text icon


2.  Highlight the text you want to have removed


3.  Type the text you wish to insert into the white box in the Pop-up


4.  When you move your cursor over the insertion point or strike-through, you can see the inserted text

 

 

Change the Color of the Strike-through

1.  To change the color of the strike-through and insertion point, do the following:

  • Double click the strike-through or insertion point

  • In the Pop-up, click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon, before the author name

  • Click on Properties

2.  In the Properties window, under the Appearance tab, select the Color and Opacity of the strike-through and insertion point

  • Click Ok

 

Underline Text

1.  In the Tools pane > under the Annotations panel > under the Annotations panel, click on the Underline Text icon


2.  Highlight the text you want to underline


3.  If you want to add text, double click the underline to open the Pop-up


  • Type in the text in the white box in the Pop-up

  • When you move your cursor over the underline, you can see the inserted text

 

Change the Color of the Underline

1.  In the Pop-up, click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon, before the author name


2.  Click on Properties


3.  In the Underline Properties window, under the Appearance tab, select the Color and Opacity of the underline

  • Click Ok

 

Add a Note to Text

1.  In the Tools pane > under the Annotation panel > click on the Add Note to Text icon


2.  Highlight the text you want to add a note to


3.  Type the text you want to add to the note in the white box in the Pop-up


4.  When you move your cursor over the highlighted area you will see the note


 

Change the Color of the Highlight

1.  Double click the highlighted area


2.  In the Pop-up, click on the down pointing arrow next to the icon, before the author name


3.  Click on Properties


4.  In the Highlight Properties window, do the following:

  • Under the Appearance tab, select the Color and Opacity of the highlight
  • Click Ok

 

Change Author Name

For every annotation, in the Pop-up, you will see the date and time the comment was made, as well as the name of the author

The default Author Name is your username for your computer login, however if you wish to change that you can do the following:

1.  Go to the Edit menu > click Preferences


2.  In the Preferences window, under the Identity category, you can see you login name which will be used on all comments unless changed


3.  Click on Commenting in the pane to the left under Categories


4.  Under the section labeled as Making Comments uncheck the box next to Always use Log-in Name for Author name

  • Click Ok


5.  However, when you make an annotation, the Author Name will be the last previously used Author Name, so it will still be your username the first time you make an annotation

6.  To change this, click on the down pointing arrow to the left of the Author Name


7.  Click on Properties…


8.  Under the General tab, do the following:

  • Change the Author to the name that you want to appear on your annotations
  • Click Ok

9.  Now when you make any annotations that name will appear as the Author until you change the Author Name again


 

Comments List

In the Comments pane > under Comments List, you will see a list of all the comments showing: what type of comment it is, who wrote it, what page it is on, the time and date it was added, and the comment itself
