View, Filter, and Reply to Comments

View Comments

When you open a PDF that has comments added, you can view them on the page, and by moving the cursor over the comments you will see the text for each

However the easiest way to see all the comments without missing any is to view them with the Comments List

1.  Go to Comment Panel > Comments List

 

2.  All of the comments in the PDF are listed

  • The icon in the upper left corner tells you what type of markup the comment is

 

  • Next to that is the Author’s Name

  • The line below the Author’s Name tells you what page the comment is on and when it was created

 

Search for Comments

You can search comments for a specific name of the author or for words within the comment.

1.  Click on the Find box under the Comments List


2.  Type in your search item, and any comment not containing that word will disappear from the list

3.  Click on the comment to highlight it in the PDF

4.  To end the search, clear the contents in the Find box

 

Reply to Comments

If you wish to comment on someone else’s comment, you can reply to them

1.  Click on the downward pointing arrow next to the Author’s Name on the comment you want to reply to

2.  Click on Reply

 

3.  Your name will appear with the date and time, in the box below that type your reply

4.  Press the Enter or Return key

 

Check Off Completed Comments

If you have completed a comment, you have the option to check it off

1.  Click anywhere on the completed comment

2.  A box will appear in the upper right corner of the comment, click in the box to check the comment as compete

3.  To remove the checkmark, click the box again

 

Set Status of Comments

Another way of marking a comment is to set the Status of the comment

1.  Click on the downward pointing arrow next to the Author’s Name on the comment you want to set the Status for

2.   Point your cursor to Set Status > select one of the following options from the list:

  • None
  • Accepted
  • Cancelled
  • Completed
  • Rejected

3.  The status of the comment will appear under the date line of the original comment

 

Sort Comments

1. Click on the Sort icon next to the Find box > select one of the following sort options from the list:

  • Type- sorts by what kind of markup the comment is, such as highlight or text box
  • Page­- sorts comments numerically by what page they are on
  • Author- sorts comments alphabetically by author
  • Date- sorts comments numerically by the date they were added
  • Checkmark Status- sorts comments into checked and unchecked groups
  • Status by Person- sorts comments by their status according to a selected Author

 

Filter Comments

1.  Click on the Filter icon next to the Sort icon > select one of the following filter options from the list:

  • Show All Comments- removes any filters and shows all comments
  • Hide All Comments- hides all the comments in the Comments List as well as in the PDF itself

  • Type- select type of markup to filter the comments by

  • Reviewer- select an author that you only want to see their comments

  • Status- select a status to see only the comments that fall under that category
