Define Workbook permissions

  • Modify data or formulas

  • Password

 

Set up Workbook protection

  • Go to File tab > select Info > Permissions > click Protect Workbook 

  • Select one of the following the options:



Assign permission to modify certain range in Worksheet

  • Select the range needing to be protected
  • Go to Home tab >  Cells group > click Format > Protection section > select the following

    • Click Lock Cell to unlock the cells

    • Click Protect sheet



  • In the Protect Sheet dialog box, do the following:

    • Clear Select locked cells check box (only allows other users to modify within unlocked cells)

    • Under Password to unprotect sheet section, set a desired password in the text box
