Add Multimedia into Presentation
Work with audio clip
Add and play an audio clip
-
Select the slide to add the audio file
-
Go to Insert tab > Media group > click the arrow under Audio > select source of the audio, for example Audio from File

In the Insert Audio dialog box, do the following:
-
Locate the audio file
-
Click Insert

- The silhouette of a speaker icon with media control pane willappear on the slide after the media has been inserted

- In the full screen display, only the silhouette of speaker icon will appear, click on it to play the audio file

Modify the behavior of the audio file
-
Click on the silhouette of speaker icon
-
Go to Audio Tools tab > Playback tab
-
Under Audio Options group, do any of the following:
-
To control the volume of the audio file, click on the Volume down arrow > select a desired option

To let the audio play automatically when starting the slide, click on the list down arrow next to Start > select Automatically

To hide the silhouette of speaker icon on the slide, select Hide During Show check box
-
To create a loop of playing audio which will not stop until moving to next slide, select Loop until Stopped check box

In Editing group, adjust the time Fade In or Fade Out box to setup time in fade in or fade out volume of the audio

With copy-protected media, an audio file purchased online, such as a song, may be in a format that’s incompatible with PowerPoint
Work with video
PowerPoint 2010 is more compatible with video formats than prior versions. Besides, it gives users the ability to embed video found on YouTube, Hulu, and other video sharing Web sites
Add video from local machine

If needed, insert a blank slide in the presentation

Go to Insert tab > Media group > click the Video down arrow > select source of the video , for example Video from File

In the Insert Video dialog box, do the following:

Locate the video file
-
Click Insert

Select the video > click Play

If needed, insert a new slide in the presentation
-
Go to Insert tab > Media group > click the Video down arrow > choose Video from Website

In the Insert Video From Web Site dialog box, do the following:
-
Paste the specific URL or special code to include that links back to a Web site
-
Click Insert

Quick note
-
Video may need to be converted if importing in the slide is failing
-
Adding content from the Internet requires you to have Internet connection for the video to work during the presentation
Replace black screen with any frame in the video
-
Select the black screen of the video
-
Using Progress Bar, choose a frame to display at initial slide

Go to Video Tools tab > Format tab > Adjust group > click the Poster Frame down arrow > select Current Frame

Format the video frame

Select the video frame
-
Go to Video Tools tab > Format tab > select desired formatting options which are similar to photo formatting options

Modify the behavior of the video file

Click on the video frame
-
Go to Video Tools tab > Playback tab

In Video Options group, do any of the following:

To hide video control icon on the slide, select Hide While not Playing check box

In Editing group, adjust the time Fade In or Fade Out box in to setup time in fade in or fade out volume of the video

Trim video
If the video clip is too long, PowerPoint can clip it out as much as needed from the beginning and end. After that, PowerPoint will add a soft fade so that the audience doesn’t have the video stop abruptly

In Normal view, click on the video frame
-
Go to Video Tools tab > Playback tab > click on Trim Video

In the Trim Video dialog box, do one of the following:

Specify the video frame to trim by doing one of the following:
-
In the Start Time box and End Time box, enter manually the time measurement of where the video starts and finishes
-
Move the green and red slider to tell PowerPoint where the video starts and finishes
-
Click on the Previous Frame or Next Frame button to make little adjustment
-
The Previous Frame move back exactly one frame for each click
-
The Next Frame move forward exactly one frame for each click
-
Click Play button to preview the trim video
-
Click OK
-
Use Fading In and Fading Out features to prevent the video to start abruptly and make it seem more natural
-
Add time in Fade In to the beginning of the video
-
Add time in Fade Out to the end of the video
