Insert and Format Charts
Insert Charts in slides
Create charts
-
Select a slide to place the chart
-
Do one of the following:
-
Go to Insert tab > Illustrations group > click on Chart

Click on the Insert Chart icon in the placeholder

In the Insert Chart dialog box, do the following:
-
Select the desired type of chart
-
Click OK button

-
In sample Excel spreadsheet, do the following:
-
Enter the data in the spreadsheet
-
Close the sample Excel spreadsheet

-
The chart with new data is inserted in the slide

Paste charts from Excel
-
Open the Excel workbook, select the chart to insert to the PowerPoint slide and do one of the following:
-
Press CTRL + C
-
Go to Home tab > Clipboard group > click Copy

In the PowerPoint slide, do the following:
-
Select the slide to place the Excel chart
-
Do one of the following:
-
Press CTRL + V
-
Go to Home tab > Clipboard group > click on Paste

Click on the Paste Options icon at the bottom left corner of the chart > select a desired paste option

Use Destination Theme & Embed Workbook – use the theme of the Excel workbook and insert the Excel chart in the PowerPoint slide

Keep Source Formatting & Embed Workbook – only keep the formatting of the Excel chart, insert the Excel chart in the PowerPoint slide, and apply the current theme of the presentation in the Excel chart

Use Destination Theme & Link Workbook – use the theme of the Excel workbook and link the chart back to the original Excel spreadsheet without including it
-
Keep Source Formatting & Link Workbook – only keep the formatting of the Excel chart, link the chart back to the original Excel spreadsheet without including it, and apply the current presentation theme in the chart

Picture – take snapshot of the chart in Excel workbook and paste as a picture in the PowerPoint slide to easily format by using options under Picture Tools Format tab on the Ribbon when clicking on the table picture
Format the chart
- Select the chart
- Go to Chart Tools tab > choose formatting options
