Apply Borders and Shading

Borders are lines around one or more paragraphs
-
Shading is a back fill that is displayed behind the paragraphs

Apply and Customize borders
Apply border for the text or paragraph
-
Select the text or paragraph to apply borders
-
Go to Home tab > Paragraph group > click the Borders down arrow > select the desired border style to apply for the text or paragraph

Apply the border for the particular page of the document

Go to Home tab > Paragraph group > click the Borders down arrow > select Borders and Shading

In the Borders and Shading dialog box, do the following:

Select the Page Borders tab

Under Apply to section, click on the down arrow > select a desired option

Customize the border

Go to Home tab > Paragraph group > click the Borders down arrow > select Borders and Shading

In the Borders and Shading dialog box, do the following:

To apply the border for the text or paragraph, select Borders tab
-
Under Setting section, select a desired options to change the setting of the border
-
Under Style section, select a desired border style
-
Under Color section, select a desired border color
-
Under Width section, select a desired width of the border line

To apply the border for the page, select Page Borders tab
-
Under Setting section, select a desired options to change the setting of the border
-
Under Style section, select a desired border style
-
Under Color section, select a desired border color
-
Under Width section, select a desired width of the border line

Apply and Customize shading
Apply shading for the text or paragraph
-
Select the text or paragraph to apply shading
-
Go to Home tab > Paragraph group > click the Shading down arrow > select the desired color to fill background of the text or paragraph either from Theme Colors or Standard Colors category

Theme Colors – basic theme colors
-
Standard Colors – the colors that don’t change when the theme changes

Apply style pattern for the shading
- Go to Home tab > Paragraph group > click the down arrow next to Borders > select Borders and Shading

The Borders and Shading dialog box, do the following:

Select Borders tab
-
Under Pattern section, click the Style down arrow > select the desired style to apply for the shading
