Modify graphics in the document
Include an image within a shape
-
Select the image
-
Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Size group > click on the Crop down arrow > point to Crop to shape > select the desired shape


Insert text into the shape
-
Right-click on the shape
-
Click Add Text from the shortcut menu

Resize graphics manually
-
Click the graphic to resize
-
Do any of the following:
-
To increase or decrease the size in one or more directions, drag a sizing handle away from or toward the center, while doing one of the following:
-
To keep the center of an object in the same place, press and hold CTRL while dragging the sizing handle.
-
To maintain the object's proportions, press and hold SHIFT while dragging the sizing handle.
-
To both maintain the object's proportions and keep its center in the same place, press and hold both CTRL and SHIFT while dragging the sizing handle

Resize to an exact height and width

Click the graphic to resize
-
Do one of the following:
-
To resize a picture or clip art, go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Size group and enter the measurements into the Height and Width boxes.

To resize a shape, go to Drawing Tools tab > Format tab > Size group and enter the measurements into the Height and Width boxes.

Go to Format tab > Size group > click the Size and Position Dialog Box Launcher arrow

In the Layout dialog box, do the following:

Select Size tab
-
Under Scale section, clear the Lock aspect ratio check box

Rotate graphics to any angle
-
Click the graphic to rotate
-
Drag the rotation handle in the direction that you want to rotate the graphic
-
To constrain the rotation to 15 degree angles, press and hold SHIFT while drag the rotation handle.

Rotate graphics to specify an exact rotation
Rotate a picture
- Select the picture
- Do one of the following:

Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > select either Rotate Right 90 degree or Rotate Left 90 degree

Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > click More Rotation Options > select Size tab > under Rotate section, enter the amount to rotate the object in the Rotation box > click OK

Rotate a shape

Select the shape

Do one of the following:

Go to Drawing Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > select either Rotate Right 90 degree or Rotate Left 90 degree

Go to Drawing Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > click More Rotation Options > select Size tab > under Rotate section, enter the amount to rotate the object in the Rotation box > click OK

Crop graphic to reduce the size
-
Cropping reduces the size of the picture by removing vertical or horizontal edges. Cropping is often used to hide or trim a part of a picture, either for emphasis or to remove unwanted portions.

The picture won’t return to its original size if it was previously cropped and saved
Crop picture or Clip Art in the document
-
Select the picture or Clip Art that you want to crop
-
Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Size group > click on Crop
-
Do one of the following:
-
To crop one side, drag the center cropping handle on that side inward.
-
To crop equally on two sides at once, press and hold CTRL while drag the center cropping handle on either side inward.
-
To crop equally on all four sides at once, press and hold CTRL while drag a corner cropping handle inward.
-
Click anywhere on the document to crop the picture

Return the original size of the picture or Clip Art

Select the cropped picture

Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Size group > click on Crop
Set position of graphics in the document
Position the picture or Clip Art in the document

Select the picture or Clip Art
-
Go to Picture Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > click on Position > select the desired position option from the list

Position the shapes in the document
-
Select the shape
-
Go to Drawing Tools tab > Format tab > Arrange group > click on Position > select the desired position option from the list

Wrap text around graphics
Microsoft Word automatically moves inserted graphic nearby text. Therefore, it’s necessary to control the relationship between the image and text using text wrapping

Click the image to select it
-
Click the contextual tools tab
-
The Picture Tools tab is for photograph
-
The Drawing Tools tab is for shapes
-
The SmartArt Tools Format tab is for SmartArt chart
-
In the Arrange group, click Wrap Text.
-
Do one of the following:

-
To wrap text around the border of your image, click Square.
-
To wrap text closely around a clip art image or an irregularly shaped picture, click Tight.
-
To drag the wrap points closer to the image that text can fill in more of the negative space around the image, click Through > click Edit Wrap Points
-
To place the image on its own line, click Top and Bottom.
-
To display the text over the image, click Behind Text.
-
To display the image over the text, click In Front of Text.
-
To change where the text wraps or the distance between the text and the image, click More Layout Options > click the Text Wrapping tab
