Save Document with Different Format

Documents need to be saved frequently while being edited or created to avoid losing work if the power goes out.

The document can be saved in different formats so that other users can open the document, even if they don’t use Word 2010
Save a document in Microsoft Word 2010

Do one of the following:

Click on the Save button on the Quick Access toolbar

Go to File tab > click Save

Hold CTRL + S
-
In the Save as dialog box, choose the location for the document, edit the filename (if needed), and then click Save
Save the document in previous Word versions
- Do one of the following:

Go to File tab > click Save & Send > File Types section > click Change File Type > select any choices to save the document in different formats in Document File Types section or Other File Types section > click Save As

OpenDocument Text (format makes the document easy to open in a whole wide range of applications including WordPerfect and Google Docs)

Go to File tab > click Save as > click the Save as type down arrow > select a specific file type in the list > click Save

Save the document as either PDF or XPS format
- Do one of the following:

Go to File tab > click Save & Send > File Types section > click Create PDF/XPS Document > click Create PDF/XPS button.

In the Publish as PDF or XPS dialog box, do the following:

Click the down arrow in the Save as type box to select the either PDF or XPS Document

Browse the location to save the document

Click Publish

Go to File tab > click Save as
- In the Save as dialog box, do the following:

Click the down arrow in the Save as type box to select the either PDF or XPS Document from the list

Browse the location to save the document

Click Save
