Add Trendlines to Charts

A Trendline is a graphical representation of the trend, or direction, of data in a series. Trendlines are used for the study of problems of prediction, also called regression analysis. You can add trendlines to data series in unstacked 2-D area, bar, column, line, stock, xy (scatter), and bubble charts.

 

Add trendlines

1.   Select a chart you want to add trendlines

2.   From the Ribbon, click Chart Layout tab go to Analysis group, click Trendline button and select a desired type of trendline, for example Linear Trendline


3.   The trendline will display as a line on the existing chart to show the trend of the list of data values

Customize a trendline

1.   Select a chart added trendline

2.   From the Ribbon, click Chart Layout tab, go to Analysis group, click Trendline button and choose Trendline Options

3.   In the Format Trendline dialog box, select Options and then make any changes you want such as customize a trendline name or add an equation label.

Remove Trendlines

1.   Select a chart added trendline

2.   From the Ribbon, click Chart Layout tab, got to Analysis group, click Trendline button and choose No Trendline
