Summarize Data on the Status Bar
The Status bar, located at the bottom edge of the workbook windows, can summarize your data by calculating the sum or average of a selected series of number without saving that result in the worksheet
1. Select the group of cells that you want Excel to display in the summary operation on the Status bar

2. The total of the selected cells will display on the Status bar
3. To change to other calculation functions, click the Status bar’s arrow and choose a desired function from the list of calculations such as: Average, Count, Count Nums, Min, Max
4. To turn off the summary data displayed on the Status bar, click the Status bar’s arrow and choose None
