Add Video to a Slide

PowerPoint 2011 is more compatible with video formats than prior versions, it gives users the ability to embed video found on YouTube, Hulu, and other video sharing Web sites

1.   Select a slide to insert a video clip

2.   Do one of the following:

  • From the Toolbar, click Media Browser button > select Movie button in the Media Browser dialog box

  • From the Ribbon, click Home tab > Insert > click Media button > select one of the following options
    • Movie Browser
    • Movie from File

  • From the Menu Bar, click Insert > Movie > select one of the following options:
    • Movie Browser
    • Movie from File

3.   If you select Movie from File option, the Choose a Movie dialog box displays. Do the following:

  • Navigate the video clip that you want to insert
  • Click Insert button

 

4.   Resize and position the video clip object if desired

 

 

Control Playback of a Movie

1.   Select the video clip object on the slide

2.   From the Ribbon, click Format Movie tab > Movie Options > select one or both the following options

  • Click Playback Options > select a desired option from the drop down list

  • Click Start list down arrow > select a desired option from the drop down list

 

Change the Screen Displayed for the Video Clip

You can remove the black screen of the video clip and remove with any frame in the video

1.   Select the video clip object on the slide

2.   Drag the Progress Bar to choose a frame to display at initial slide

3.   From the Ribbon, click Format Movie tab > Movie Options > click Poster Frame > choose Current Frame

4.   Click off the slide to see the end result

 

Format the Video Frame of the Movie

1.   Select the video frame object

2.   From the Ribbon, click Format Movie tab and do the following:

  • Under Adjust, use the formatting tools to edit the video frame


  • Under Movie Styles, move the mouse pointer hover to any style in the gallery and click  to expand the gallery > select the style that you want.

3.   Click off the slide to see the end result

 

Play a Video Clip

1.   Select the slide inserted a movie

2.   Click the Slide Show button at the bottom of the Navigation Pane

3.   Move the mouse pointer hover to the image frame of the video clip

4.   Click the Play button

5.   Press esc key to exit the Slide Show mode
