Tour of the Word 2011 interface

(1) Menu Bar: The area at the top of the screen where all menus are displayed. The File, Edit, and View menus have the most commonly used menu commands
(2) Standard Toolbar: The toolbar that displays the name of the document (in this case, Document1) and buttons for some of the most common tasks, such as opening, saving, and printing a document
(3) Ribbon: The organization of tabbed commands
(4) Tabs: The tabbed command bar at the top of a Window or work area that organizes features into logical groups. The Home tab has the most commonly used commands for formatting a document
(5) Command Group: Contains commands that are grouped by similar functions
(6) Ruler: Located on the side and top of the document. The ruler at the top can be used in applying tabs to the document
(7) Zoom: Control the view of the document by zooming in or out
(8) Spell Check: View the status of Spell Check on your document
(9) Page Count and Word Count: Shows how many pages and words are in the document
(10) View Switcher: Click on the buttons to change the view of the document

NOTE When an object is inserted in the document, Microsoft Word 2011 will provide an appropriate set of tools that are specific to the object at the left end of the Ribbon
