Insert Footnotes and Endnotes

Insert Footnotes

In Draft View

1.   Click where you want the Footnote to be inserted

2.   From the Ribbon, go to Document Elements tab > click Footnote

3.   Word will automatically enter a Footnote where your insertion point was

  • A pane at the bottom of the page will open where you can edit your Footnote
  • Type the Footnote text next to the number

 

In Print Layout View

1.   Click where you want the Footnote to be inserted

2.   From the Ribbon, go to Document Elements tab > click Footnote

3.   Word will automatically enter a Footnote where your insertion point was

4.   Your insertion point will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the page where you can type your Footnote

5.   The Footnotes will be added to the bottom of the page

 

Insert Endnotes

In Draft View

1.   Click where you want the Endnote to be inserted

2.   From the Ribbon, go to Document Elements tab > click Endnote

3.   Word will automatically enter a Endnote where your insertion point was

4.   A window at the bottom of the page will be opened where you can insert your Endnote

5.   Type the Endnotes text next to the number

 

In Print Layout View

1.   Insert a Footnote by clicking where you want the Footnote to be inserted

2.   From the Ribbon, go to Document Elements tab > click Footnote

3.   Word will automatically enter a Footnote where your insertion point was

4.   Your insertion point will be automatically placed at the bottom of the page where you can type your Footnote

5.   The Endnotes will be added to the end of the document
