Use Indents

Understand Indents in the Document

  • Indents refer to the extra white space added at the left margin so that a block of text can be set off from the rest of the text in the document
    • First Line Indent makes the first line of the paragraph indent, while the rest of the paragraph remains. To make a First Line Indent press the TAB key on the keyboard one time
    • Hanging Indent sets where the second, and all the following lines, of a paragraph begin
  • Indents are applied for an entire paragraph or paragraphs
  • The default distance of the indent (default tab) is the half-inch
