Control Sound Device Volume Settings
In Windows 7, you have full control over the sounds that you hear coming from the computer or the sounds going into the computer
Via Control Panel

Open Control Panel window
- In the Category view of the Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound link

- In the Hardware and Sound Control Panel, click a desired link to adjust sound system volume under Sound category

Via Speaker icon on Taskbar
- Hover the mouse over the Speaker icon at the bottom right-hand corner on the Taskbar to see the current sound volume

To adjust the master sound volume, click the Speaker icon and use the slider for making changes to the volume

- To mute all sounds, choose Mute Speakers by clicking the Speaker icon on the slide bar sound volume

- To unmute sounds, click the same Speaker icon on the slide bar to remove the No Sign on the icon
- To get further control on the sounds, click Mixer link

- Depending on what applications you have opened, you will have different sound volume controls in the Volume Mixer window

- Use the slide bar to make sound volume adjustment
- To modify the System sounds (default Windows sounds), right click on the Speaker icon on the Taskbar and choose Sounds

In the Sound windows, under Sounds tab, select a desired Sound Scheme from the drop down list
- Modify each sound being used that is associated with the selected sound Scheme if desired by selecting the program events item and selecting a desired sound from the Sounds section list

To modify sound of the playback /recording devices, do the following:

Click the Playback/ Recording tab

Select a desired device

Click Properties or Configure button to modify the sound settings

- Nowadays, a lot of people are using computers to place or receive telephone calls. In Windows 7, users can setup to automatically adjust the volume of different sounds for telephone communications by clicking Communication tab and choosing a default desired option
