Richard D. & Mary Pat McCormick Endowed Scholarship
3.5 GPA; financial need-based (FAFSA), degree- or licensure-seeking student; preference to teacher education candidate who is willing to student teach at a Parochial school and interested in teaching at a Parochial school upon graduation. Scholarship Center, (303) 556-6384.

Sophomore or higher elementary minor or licensure student; 3.0 or better GPA.

Knowles Science Teaching Foundation Award
$10,000 yearly awarded to secondary math and science education students. Visit the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation website for details.
PELL Grant
PELL Grant is offered to undergraduate students who qualify, but post-baccalaureate students may also qualify for the PELL grant once they become formally admitted to the Teacher Licensure Program. SLEAP GRANT
Teacher Education students who have submitted a FAFSA and Scholarship application, and have registered for student teaching may qualify for the SLEAP Grant for that semester. The grant is awarded based on merit and/or need. Scholarship Center, (303) 556-8593..
Federal TEACH Grant
Undergraduate Teacher Education students seeking licensure in secondary math or science, special education, K-12 modern languages (Spanish), or elementary education with an added endorsement in linguistically diverse may be eligible to apply for a Federal TEACH Grant. Compact Service Corps AmeriCorps Program (was UCAN Serve)
Receive education awards for your unpaid service hours (field experience/student teaching) to be used toward tuition, repayment of outstanding student loans, and other qualified education related expenses. Visit the MSU Denver Compact Service Corps website for details and orientation.
Work Opportunities
Work-study positions at MSU Denver
Visit the Student Employment Opportunities web page on the Human Resources site to search available work-study and student hourly jobs at MSU Denver. To earn work-study funding, you must apply for a work-study grant through the Office of Financial Aid.
Substitute Teaching
Pay for substitute teaching is approximately $80-$120 a day. Teacher candidates with a bachelor’s degree can get a license to substitute teach for three years. Opportunities vary by district and subject shortage areas. Visit the Colorado Department of Education website for details and application.
MSU Denver offers a one-credit-hour substitute teaching workshop. This class, EDU 4700, is offered three times a year. Check the class schedule or contact the Extended Campus at (303) 721-1313 for more information on this workshop.
Internship Program
This is an intensive student teaching/learning experience for which eligible students receive the salary of a first year teacher offered at the discretion of individual school districts. The program is available mainly in high demand areas. Visit the Student Teaching Center in WC 141 for details.
