The TPS Regional Program is currently accepting proposals from educational organizations able to integrate TPS materials and methods into existing pre- and in-service professional development and education programs for teachers. School districts, colleges and universities, library systems, cultural institutions and associations may request grants of up to $20,000, on a rolling basis.

Proposals for projects that show potential for supporting the sustained and effective use of Library of Congress digitized primary sources in K-12 classrooms receive priority funding.

About the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Program:

The mission of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program is to: build awareness of the Library's educational initiatives; provide content that promotes the effective educational use of the Library's resources; and offer access to and promote sustained use of the Library's educational resources.

The Library achieves this mission through collaborations between the Library and the K – 12 educational community across the United States. The program contributes to the quality of education by helping teachers use the Library's digitized primary sources to engage students, develop their critical thinking skills and construct knowledge.

The TPS Regional Program:

The TPS Regional program supports educational and cultural institutions throughout the United States in implementing primary source-based professional development programs for K-16 teachers and librarians by connecting them to free Library of Congress educational materials and learning opportunities.

Three TPS Regional Coordinators in the East, Midwest and West offer grants, on behalf of the Library of Congress, to organizations who wish to integrate TPS methods and materials into their professional development and educational programs for pre- and in-service teachers.

The Western Region:

The TPS Western Regional, coordinated by Metropolitan State College of Denver, encompasses 16 states from Washington to Texas. Alaska and Hawaii are also in the Western Region.

States in this region:

Alaska Hawaii New Mexico Texas
Arizona Idaho North Dakota Utah
