Grant awarded March 5, 2010
This grant first brought TPS training to Idaho by providing workshops for methods instructors and teachers in conjunction with the Idaho Council for History Education (ICHE) Social Studies Conference in October 2010. Two October workshops were successfully completed at the ICHE Conference; a methods instructor’s workshop on October 6 and a K-12 teacher’s workshop on October 7-8, 2010. Nineteen educators were recruited from all 3 geographic regions of the state to attend the workshops and bring TPS back to their home districts. Awareness correspondence and fliers were sent to 600-800 educators via the Idaho Social Studies Roundtable. This grant piloted a new model of bringing in a previously trained university professor from Arizona State University (Dr. Linda Sargent-Wood) to help train new methods instructors and K-12 teachers.
