Instructions
for using the Grant Search Database:
(A copy
of these instructions will be included in the downloabable
version of the Study Guide.)
To locate
the GrantSearch Database:
1. Go to www.mscd.edu/~osp/
2. Click on "Funding" at the top of the page.
3. Click on "Search" in the list on the left hand side of the
page.
4. Click on the link "GRC Grant Search Page" in the first sentence
of the first paragraph on the search page.
There are five types of searches you can use to find possible funding
fits. Read this excerpt from the instruction manual
from OSP to learn about the different searches.
To conduct a search:
1. Type keywords or select from the list of any one of the searches.
2. To use more than one search at the same time click on the "And"
option button on the right side of the search.
3. Use the "Next" or "Previous" links on the right
hand side of the page to move between searches or scroll the page.
4. To select multiple items in the search lists, hold down the "Ctrl"
key on your keyboard while you click on the items you wish to select.
5. Once you have completed choosing your search criteria, scroll to the
bottom of the web page and click the "Start Search" Button.
6. The browser should move to a new web page.
If no matches were found based on your criteria:
1. The screen will display the following message:
"No matches found for the search criteria entered. Return to search
to edit your input."
2. Click on "Return to search" or click on the Back button of
your browser to change your criteria and try a new search.
If your criteria produced a list of funding matches:
1. The number of matches will be listed as "Search Results"
at the top of the page.
2. Click on the "Program Title" of each match to view details.
3. Only 10 matches will be displayed per page. Click on the button "Next
Programs" at the bottom of the screen to view the rest of your matches.
4. To the left of each Program Title is a checkbox marked "Select".
Use the checkboxes to identify matches you wish to keep.
5. Click on "Select All" at the top right-hand part of the page
to check all the checkboxes.
6. Click on "Clear All" to remove checks from all the checkboxes.
7. Click on "New Search" to start a new search with new criteria.
Caution: Once you start a new search, your current matches will be reset
and you will not be able to come back to them.
To print your matches:
1. Select the Programs Titles by checking the "Select" box to
the left of the title.
2. Click on the link "View Selected" to display the details
of all the selected titles.
3. Use the Print function from your web browser to print the page.
To save your Selected Titles:
1. Select the Programs Titles by checking the "Select" box to
the left of the title.
2. Click on the link "View Selected" to display the details
of all the selected titles.
3. Go to the File Menu of your web browser and click on "Save As".
4. Change the drop down box "Save as Type" to "Web Archieve".
5. Make sure to note the location displayed at the top in the "Save
In" box. Browse to the location of your choice.
6. Click on "Save".
