Trust Strategy

Remove all the incentives to cheat and then trust the students. Emphasize that students are responsible for their own learning and cheating only hurts themselves.

  • Make activities more performance-based than knowledge-based. Choose an assessment where there is more than one right answer.
  • Use tests for a small portion of the grade. Use other things like discussion participation and team projects to judge performance.
  • Allow "Open Web" tests where any resource can be used to find the answer.
