Threat Strategy

Threaten punishment to those caught cheating. This approach may work best with immature or beginning students. Otherwise, you risk the appearance of not trusting your students.

A policy should include statements such as:

  • Cheating is wrong and will not be tolerated.
  • Students caught cheating will be punished.
  • If you help someone cheat, you are a cheater.
  • If you don't report cheating, you are a cheater.
