Intervene with unmotivated students

A learner may be unmotivated if they:

  • Turn in assignments late.
  • Don't answer e-mail messages.
  • Make sarcastic responses to postings.
  • Post negative comments about the course, instructor or other students.

Try to find out why they are unmotivated. Offer an alternative assignment schedule. Advise the student of what will happen if they don't participate. Keep records of everything and follow-up frequently.
