FEATURED NEWS FROM THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

“Save Your Plate” Campaign:
Special update
The Metro State Alumni Association and the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles have received many requests over the past 5 months for the specialty Roadrunner license plate.  State DMV offices have been busy trying to fulfill that demand.

The state has assured us that county DMV office locations have now received their supply of our plates. Therefore, we are encouraging you to check with your local county DMV (where your vehicle is registered) and find out if the Metro State license plate is available at that location.  In the event a plate is not available and your current license plates do expire, we have been assured that you can obtain a temporary tag until your plate becomes available.

If you are holding a voucher and have not redeemed it yet (regardless of your vehicle registration date), please do so prior to the end of May or it will be too late!  If you had previously requested a voucher and have lost it, we are happy to print you a new one.

To get your first or replacement voucher, go to the Alumni Association website, call 303-556-4076 or e-mail alumni@mscd.edu

Thank you for helping us "Save the Plate"!  Please continue to spread the word that more license plate vouchers are available as we try to reach our goal of 4,000 plates on vehicles by the end of May 2007.

We are thrilled to announce that Oscar-nominated writer, director and producer Lourdes Portillo is coming to campus.  The Richard T. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professorship was initiated in 1997 to foster multiculturalism, diversity and academic excellence at Metro State.  The professorship brings renowned Latina and Latino scholars, artists and leaders of distinction to Metro State to conduct classes, seminars, performances and lectures for students, faculty and the larger Denver community.

To read more about the Castro Professorship community events happening on April 24 and 25, and/or to RSVP, go to http://www.mscd.edu/news/castro/. To volunteer, please contact Stefanie Carroll at scarro17@mscd.edu or call 303-556-6935.

Join an alumni chapter/club or start a new one!

Over the past year, alumni leaders have formed chapters/clubs to foster activities with graduates who have the same academic or professional field, common hobbies, geographical location and/or cultural connection.  Now is your chance to join.

If you would like to work with a team of fellow graduates to host events and stimulate interest in Metro State among alumni and the general public, go to http://www.mscd.edu/~alumni/chapters/chaps_main.htm to see which of our current clubs appeal to you.  Or, contact us about founding a new one!
