Join the Metro State Biology Department, students and alumni for this special trip to the Galapagos Islands! The 12-day trip (with an optional 4-day trip to the Ecuadorian Rainforest) will take place in May 2007. It will include accommodations in Quito, Ecuador, airfare to/from Quito-San Cristobal, park entrance fee, double room with private bath on the “Letty” (chartered boat), all on-board meals and MSCD instructional costs* (alumni have the option of taking the course for credit). Days are spent snorkeling, hiking and sea kayaking. The boat holds up to 20 passengers and 11 crew (including two English-speaking guides.) Cost is $4,000.00 plus airfare; the optional 4-day trip to the rainforest is an additional $1,000.00. *Pre-departure classes are held during the spring 2007 semester. Metro State’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously on June 19th to approve the faculty salary initiative proposed by President Stephen Jordan. The initiative aims to remedy the long-standing equity problem affecting associate and full professors and to increase the College’s ability to offer salaries to new hires that are competitive, while minimizing compression on existing faculty. Deadline for City Park Jazz Event Approaching Quickly! Please join us Sunday, July 23rd, at City Park in Denver and enjoy a tasty dinner from Chipotle, the sounds of salsa jazz and plenty of mingling in the Metro State Alumni Association’s hospitality tent. The free concert by Conjunto Colores starts at 6:00 p.m. Please arrive early to snag the best spot on the grass and bring your own blanket/chair. The alumni tent will be located southeast of the Pavilion. Guests welcome. Co-hosted by CASS (Connecting Alumni, Students & Spirit).
