General Event Volunteer

There are plenty of events happening year-round that serve to get alumni re-connected with the campus! These events include Commencement, Homecoming Week, Spring Fling, the Alumni Association Annual Meeting and much, much more!

Commitment Required: Very Minimal. These fun, one-time volunteer opportunities usually consist of a couple of hours or more, depending on the length of the event.

Programs:

Alumni Action Task Force Member

The Alumni Action Task Force (AATF) serves as an advocacy group for Metro State. This includes calling, e-mailing and/or meeting in-person with State Legislators to present the Metro State perspective. AATF members are kept informed about decisions from the Capitol that will impact the College’s mission to be the state’s “college of opportunity” through a website and listserve. Visit Alumni Action Task Force to learn more.

Commitment Required: Minimal. Varies year to year, but AATF members are encouraged to attend the Volunteer Training (December) and participate in a Lobby Day/Capitol Tour (spring).

Alumni Chapter and Club Member

The Alumni Association is looking for alumni who have the same academic or professional field, common hobbies, geographical location and/or cultural connection to host events and stimulate interest in the College among alumni and the general public. Visit Alumni Chapters and Clubs to learn more.

Commitment Required: Minimal-Very Involved. Varies by club and level of individual’s involvement within the club. Each club gets involved with at least 3 events (on- or off-campus) per academic year.

ADVANCE (Alumni Admissions Recruitment Team Member)

The Offices of Admissions and Alumni Relations have created a program for alumni called “ADVANCE”—it engages alumni to share their personal experiences with prospective and newly accepted Metro State students. ADVANCE volunteers participate in “open house” events, assist with campus visitation tours and make contact with students through letters and phone calls. Visit ADVANCE to learn more.

Commitment Required: Minimal. ADVANCE volunteers are required to give at least 8-10 hours of their time per academic year and attend the Volunteer Training (fall).
