Student Scholarships

2007-2008 Award Winners

The Metro State Alumni Association awarded nine scholarships to deserving students at its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.

This year, the association was able to name seven seniors as Alumni Scholars, awarding them with one-year, full-tuition scholarships.

In selecting recipients, the association targeted seniors with a bent for leadership and a strong track record of community service as well as the need for financial support in order to finish their degrees.

The 2007-2008 Alumni Scholars are:

Brandie Alcover, Criminal Justice and Criminology

Marcos Duarte, Undecided

Ryan Jones, Aviation Technology

Courtney Klug, Behavioral Science

Richard Martel, Human Services

Elisa Obando, Psychology

Angela Thatcher, Psychology

In addition to the Alumni Scholars program, $500 to $1,000 scholarships in two other categories were awarded at the meeting.

The recipient of the 2006 Hispanic Alumni Scholarship, awarded by the Metro State Latino Alumni Chapter, was Trevor Laborda, who is studying Biology.

The recipient of the 2006 Keith Mann Scholarship, awarded jointly by the African American Alumni Chapter and the African American Affairs Council, was Earl Armstrong, a Teacher Licensure candidate.
