After introductions and welcoming of new Council members, Marcin gave an update on the Pepsi Center production. He stated that production was finished and any problems were fixed; the next step was finalization of the Web page. While equipment was set up for showing the Pepsi Center VR, Dr. Broida gave some background information for the new members. The 20th Street Gym study showed that a facilitated VR experience was the most effective in reducing anxiety, and this result was anticipated in the testing for the Pepsi Center and National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Test subjects from Craig Hospital will be used for Pepsi Center testing, and the goal is to be finished by October.
The Pepsi Center VR was presented; Marcin explained that the focus for this site was the quality of the video in order to reduce anxiety. He demonstrated the different capabilities of the videos and the ease of using the features, and asked for feedback.
Dr. Germann mentioned that the project had started with a small facility, gone to a huge sports center, and would finish with a mountain - he said that they were interested in input about how information should be arranged and navigation shown for the Winter Park location (NSCD). Council members offered various suggestions for responding to different needs.
Marcin and Krzysztof referred to a handout of NSCD and gave a production update - the videos, VR, interview footage, etc. are finished and are being put together. Dr. Germann asked the Council for thoughts on whether a map approach (like 20th Street) or a functional approach (like the Pepsi Center) would be useful for NSCD. Council members made suggestions based on their experiences. Dr. Broida said NSCD’s focus was on the novice skier and the project would also use that approach; some discussion had been made about filming three-dimensional models of the ski equipment to also put on the website, as well as interviewing vaious skiers to convey a sense of the whole experience.
A reminder of the next meeting - October 17, 2:30-4:00 p.m., Room 329, Tivoli Building - was given and the meeting adjourned.
