Mission
 

MSCD's Chicano Studies Program provides graduates with knowledge of the history and culture of the Chicana/o community. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, including courses in English, history, political science, anthropology, and sociology; Chicano and other Latino experiences are used as points of departure to increase student awareness of the multicultural world and the contributions of Chicanos. Graduates receive a B.A. in Chicano Studies. A minor is also offered. Students with this major can qualify for licensure at the secondary level with endorsement in social studies.
