Department of Computer Information Systems You are invited to join the most rapidly growing profession in the business community. Exploding microcomputer technology will continue to be the number one job opportunity for at least the next 10 years. The information super highway is now a reality. The Computer Information Systems Department (CIS) offers a challenging and rewarding information system and management science academic program that is at the cutting edge of real-world microcomputer applications. Information systems courses include hands-on experience in both introductory and advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications; programming language courses in Java, C and C++, and in fourth-generation languages such as Visual Basic; and operating systems courses such as NetWare, Windows, UNIX, and Linux. Advanced study is offered in systems analysis and design, database design, telecommunications, local and wide-area networking, and Web applications. Internships are available for students to obtain real-world experience in the information systems area. Management science courses include an introduction to statistics, quantitive decision-making, simulation, artificial intelligence, and business forecasting. Our 15 experienced, full-time faculty members are dedicated to excellence in teaching, student development, career planning, student advising, and applied research. A chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is sponsored by the department. Opportunities for resume building through real design and applications projects are provided for all CIS seniors. We prepare our graduates for today's competitive job market. School of Business The School of Business offers Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting, computer information systems and management science, finance, management, and marketing and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
