1. Report from the Hispanic Serving Initiative (HSI) Committee. Dr. Luis Torres and Judy Diaz-Bonacquisti. a. Judy and Luis gave a very comprehensive presentation of what is now Phase II of the Initiative. There are six sub-committees which are producing large amounts of information which is moving the initiatve along. b. They directed us to the Web site of HSI, which is found by going to the President’s web site. It was suggested that a more accessible Web site might be an improvement. c. The basic premise that is important for the Metro State community to understand is that this initiative promises to be a boon to the entire college, to all minority groups, and to the entire college community.

2. Handbook Committee. Maureen Johnson and Yvonne Flood. No report because the Committee has not met since Nov. 19.

3. Meeting with Dr. Jordan on Nov. 30. The President devoted a great deal of time to the problems with the funding of the science building. A question was asked about Professional Development and Dr. Jordan responded that he supports increasing the P.D. and wants us to create some kind of a multi-year plan, but the details of this were unclear. We anticipate having a meeting like this once every semester.

4. President’s Cabinet was cancelled last week.

5. Pay for Performance (P4P) Vote. It was announced in the media that the vote was a tie: 105 to 105. No other details are available, but there will be more soon.

6. Late Enrollment Proposal. Judy Diaz-Bonacquisti. Since this was her proposal, she clarified some things about it that were unclear in our last meeting. It is still in the proposal stage so nothing has

been decided yet. This is an effort to get the Metro State population to register early for classes, rather than late. The plan would not be implemented until Fall 2008 at the earliest. The $200 fee would go to advertising and buying incentives for students, such as Ipods, etc.

7. Minutes. Waived today because of the HSI presentation. Tara will email them to us ASAP.
